Epiphany Water

A few days ago we celebrated the Feast of the Epiphany, and the day prior to that our parish had the blessing of Epiphany Water. I had never heard of Epiphany Water until a few years ago; I suspect that there are many others who have never heard of it either. Epiphany Water is basically Holy Water on steroids. 🙂

The rite took about an hour and included much singing – beginning with the Litany of the Saints and ending with the Te Deum. A large part of the rite is as an exorcism against Satan and the fallen angels.

An excerpt (which the priest prays…lay folks should not pray this!):

Therefore, accursed dragon and every diabolical legion, we adjure you by the living + God, by the true + God, by the holy + God, by the God who so loved the world that He gave His only-begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but shall have life everlasting; cease your deception of the human race and your giving them to drink of the poison of everlasting damnation; desist from harming the Church and fettering her freedom. Begone Satan, you father and teacher of lies and enemy of mankind. Give place to Christ in whom you found none of your works; give place to the one, holy, Catholic, and apostolic Church, which Christ Himself purchased with His blood. May you be brought low under God’s mighty hand. May you tremble and flee as we call upon the holy and awesome name of Jesus, before whom hell quakes, and to whom the virtues, powers, and dominations are subject; whom the cherubim and seraphim praise with unwearied voices, saying: Holy, holy, holy, Lord God of hosts!

As you can see, this blessing is very powerful! If your parish has Epiphany water, grab a bottle (or two) and stock up on some to use throughout the year. If your parish did not have this blessing, ask your priest to do it next year.

    • Hi Natalie, you can ask your parish priest if he did the Epiphany water blessing, and if he did he should have some for you. If he did not, there may be another parish in your diocese that did the Epiphany water blessing – you may need to call a few parishes to see if anyone did the blessing and if so do they have any Epiphany water left. The blessing is done on or just before (like the Sunday before) January 6th. If your priest didn’t do the blessing he can do it next year! If you need more information please let us know.

  1. Dear Family and Friends,

It appears to me and others that Francis is in the midst of fulfilling more Book of Truth prophecy, this in regard to his global initiative called “Global Pact on Education” where he is calling for a “new humanism” to be created.

    Consider comparing “new humanism” (Francis)

to “new form of humanism” (Book of Truth prophecy – http://www.thebookoftruthonline.blogspot.com ). Prophecy below (paragraph formatting lost in copy and paste from PDF archive)

*Always keep in mind that the alleged Book of Truth prophecies are either highly detailed false message or are the foretold promised scripture noted in the Book of Daniel, meant for the end time generation – see: Daniel 10:21/12:4-9 A further claim the prophecies make is that, as a collection they are to be known as the “Book of Truth”, and the Book is the interpretation of the Book of Revelation.

    • Hello William,

Thank you for visiting our site. I decided to let your comment through (after cutting out the “Book of Truth” quote for length) even though it has nothing to do with the topic of Epiphany Water.

I agree that we live in unusual times and that our holy father Francis needs our prayers. Many things he has done are bewildering at best. Sites such as those you linked to document such things frequently. Even on this blog, we have scratched our heads and have written: Of Statuettes and St. John Henry Newman
