Dear friends, there is a poor man in Oklahoma City who is planning the desecration of a statue of Mary on Christmas Eve (news article here). He is a self-confessed satanist. Rather than focus on the gravity of what he is planning, I would like to ask our readers to stop now and pray for this man. It is evident he has few (if any) people to pray for him.
What person would take an image of his own mother and desecrate it as an act of protest? Mary is this man’s mother, too, and her heart aches for his salvation, as it does for all of ours. Her Son, Jesus Christ, died for this man that he might be saved from eternal damnation. In your charity, please pray hard for his conversion. Considering he thinks the Virgin Birth is a lie, the following prayer of the St. Andrew Novena seems most appropriate:
Hail and blessed be the hour and moment in which the Son of God was born of the most pure Virgin Mary, at midnight, in Bethlehem, in the piercing cold. In that hour vouchsafe, I beseech Thee, O my God, to hear my prayer and grant my desires, through the merits of Our Savior Jesus Christ, and of His blessed Mother. Amen.
