Easy Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream

Who doesn’t like an easy-to-make homemade vanilla ice cream? Summer is here, and so is the heat, and a fun, simple, and yummy way to beat the heat (oh and did I mention cost effective too?) is to whip up a batch of homemade ice cream. A family from church gave us this ice cream maker as a wedding gift, and we’ve used it countless times to prepare delicious creamy desserts. Below is one of our family’s favorites, adapted from the recipe book that came with the ice cream maker.

Easy Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream

A deliciously simple creamy treat, quick and easy to make, but so yummy you'll be coming back for a second bowl (if there's any left!).
Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 30 minutes
Total Time 39 minutes
Servings 6 people

Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole milk well chilled
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups heavy cream well chilled
  • 1 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract add less or more depending on preference
  • 2 tbs cinnamon (optional) add less or more depending on preference

Instructions

  • In a medium bowl (or a KitchenAid mixer bowl) mix or whisk milk and granulated sugar until the sugar is dissolved (about 1-2 minutes on low speed).
  • Stir in the heavy cream and vanilla. Add cinnamon if desired.
  • Pour mixture into your ice cream maker and make according to manufacturer's directions (if using the ice cream maker linked to above, mix for 30 minutes).

Notes

Enjoy this delicious ice cream immediately, as it melts rather quickly. Optionally, you can transfer the ice cream to a freezer-safe bowl and allow the ice cream to ripen (firm) in the freezer for a few hours (at least 4).
