Ave Sanguis Christi

I have composed a three-part motet on words from several lines of the Litany of the Most Precious Blood. My (hopefully decent) translation is as follows:

Ave Sanguis Christi pretium nostrae salutis!
in agonia decurrens in terram,
in flagellatione profluens,
in coronatione spinarum emanens,
in cruce effusus.
O Sanguis Christi, flumen misericordiae,
salva nos.

Hail Blood of Christ, price of our salvation!
running down on the ground in the agony,
flowing from the scourging,
emanating in the crowning with thorns,
poured out on the cross.
O Blood of Christ, river of mercy, save us.

Free PDF download of both variations is available at the bottom of this post.

Discussion

Both editions of the score are very close. At measure 32, the inversion that seems to work for the ladies at this cadence did not sound right in my ear for the men’s voices. For the men, I resolved this to an F in unison without the A-flat beneath.

For the TTB rendition, Tenor 2 could easily be a Baritone line. In fact, all three lines are probably accessible to the Baritone voice: just a bit on the higher end (F) for the top line and the lower end (A-flat) on the bottom.
